The Free and Democratic Bulgaria Foundation regularly subsidizes the translation and publication of important books on history, philosophy, politics and economics that would not otherwise reach Bulgarian readers. |

FDBF has continued to provide some 400 free subscriptions of the reputable Bulgarian newspaper Capital Weekly to universities, schools and public libraries and, in cooperation with the Biblionef France Foundation has distributed over 25,000 French books for children and adolescents to schools throughout the country.
FDBF also supported Michael Bar-Zohar in his research for his seminal book, "Beyond Hitler's Grasp - the saving of the Bulgarian Jews", published in Bulgaria and in the US in 1999.
Support also went to the distinguished publishing house "Letopisi", for two documentary films on Bulgarian Romas (gypsies) by Ilko Doundakov, and "Bulgaria, that's me!" by the notable film director Svetoslav Ovcharov. |
