In June 2001 FDBF as a partner of the East-West Parliamentary Practice Project (EWPPP) Amsterdam, started the implementation in Bulgaria of the Legislatures and Citizens Project. |

It is carried out concurrently in eight countries in Southeast Europe and aims at encouraging legislators and civil society representatives to bridge the gap between the citizens and the institutions, particularly parliament. The L&C Project helps parliamentarians find mechanisms to facilitate the process of gaining public support for new legislation and ways of increasing citizens' involvement in lawmaking as well as confidence in the legislative institution.
