On 25 April 2005, Bulgaria signed its EU Accession Treaty. In order to celebrate this important event and to contribute to the improvement of the knowledge of the history, institutions, people and mechanisms of the EU among young Bulgarians, we organized the online game “I know the European Union”. |

Over a period of three weeks, the Internet site of the game, www.bg-eu.org, was visited by more than 12,000 people, the registered participants were more than 5,000 and 26% of them answered correctly all 27 questions, some of which very difficult indeed. On the eve of the 24th May, the Day of Bulgarian Enlightenment and Culture, and of the Slavonic Alphabet, a notary drew the names of the winners, who were awarded a USB flash drive with 512 MB capacity containing the full text of Bulgaria’s Accession Treaty to the EU as well as other valuable information about the EU and Bulgaria’s accession process. The grand prize was a several-day trip to Brussels, which included visits to the major European institutions.
