In partnership with our Dutch colleagues from the International Child Development Initiatives in Leiden, from 2004 through 2007 the FDBF worked on a program on “Strengthening the Life Skills of Institutionalized children in Bulgaria”. From 1997 to 2007 the National Information Center on the Problems of Street Children and Children at Risk served as a national data bank which collected and disseminated information about homeless children and children at risk from all over the country. |

“Panitza” Excellence in Journalism Prizes |

In order to promote higher standards, introduce humanistic values and encourage alternatives to sensationalism and poor reporting practices in Bulgarian print media, the FDBF Founder and Chairman J. D. Panitza established the Excellence in Journalism Prizes in 1994. |

I know the European Union |

On 25 April 2005, Bulgaria signed its EU Accession Treaty. In order to celebrate this important event and to contribute to the improvement of the knowledge of the history, institutions, people and mechanisms of the EU among young Bulgarians, we organized the online game “I know the European Union”. |

My Rights |

In 1998, on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the FDBF published a small brochure entitled My Rights with excerpts of key texts related to human rights, which are guaranteed to every Bulgarian citizen by the Constitution and by the international Conventions ratified by the Bulgarian Parliament. |
